Here I am, spending all day writing code in a language that is
statically typed. It's like eating all your food with a good helping
of sand. How does one convert a byte[] buf; into a String so you can
send it down the wire using a DataOutputStream class? Oooh, let's
chain a bunch of converters together. Blimey!
It's cool that Sun GPL'd Java though. Probably one of the smartest
things they've ever done. There's really only a few real software
licenses. If you use anything other than a mainstream license, you
condemn your code to languish unused. There's L/GPL, BSD, and OTHER.
That's basically it. If someone has to send your license to a lawyer
they won't bother even downloading it.
Which reminds me, the Navy wrote the world's best wardriving tool with
a Java GUI that's so beautiful it has to be seen to believed. I was
like "That can't be Java". So I know it's possible to be productive in
Java, I just don't see how.
