A TPM chip is basically a cryptoprocessor providing crypto functions and
key storage, among few other things, that can help applications perform
crypto operation is a more secure way. You can write a driver for it,
and actually, there are drivers for Windows plate-forms, and Vista
provides TPM v1.2 support.

But I was not referring to the overall idea of Trusted Computing as you
seem to, as protection offered mostly relies on the quality of software.
Having trusted OS/applications is great, as long as they're not
vulnerable. In that later situation, you'll just get trustfully flawed
software...
