Look,

If you have the portfolio and work experiance you don't need a cert.

If your job makes you get one, fine get one.

If your just starting out and can't get clients, having a cert might help.

If you don't like it, don't get one. Of course its bullshit, just corp. 
trying to
make money doing what they love, which is making money by exploiting trends.
But hey, don't we all want to do what we love, and make money?
